Bono Leaves $150 Tip for Reuben Sandwich at Canter's Deli in L.A.
When Bono's hungry at 3 a.m., he does what many others up at that hour do: hit the local 24/7 deli or diner for grub. After U2's May 28 show at Los Angeles venue The Roxy, the 54-year-old rocker headed to the famed L.A. deli Canter's and asked a veteran server to choose his meal.
According to Billboard, the waitress brought Bono a Reuben sandwich, french fries, and onion rings. For dessert, the rocker enjoyed chocolate rugelach. In the ultimate pay-it-forward gesture, Bono made the waitress' day when he forked over a $150 tip for his dinner, which totaled less than $20.
In L.A. to play five shows as part of the Innocence and Experience Tour, Bono and his bandmates, The Edge, Adam Clayton, and Larry Mullen, have suffered a heavy May 2015. The band performed just one show during their L.A. run before learning that their longtime tour manager, Dennis Sheehan, was found dead in his Sunset Marquis hotel room. The crew member, who was in his late sixties, had been with the band for 30 years.

Bono is also continuing his long recovery from a bike accident that left him unable to play guitar. "It feels like I have somebody else's hand,” the music legend told The New York Times in April, six months after undergoing surgery to repair injuries to his arm and hand.
"I really used to think that my head was harder than any surface it came in contact with, and I don't anymore," the humbled musician mused to the Times. "I didn't come off a Harley-Davidson. I came off a push bike and smashed myself to bits. There is no glory here."
